Dr Alistair McBride – Counselling & Psychotherapy
Project Overview
Dr Alistair McBride needed a website that felt:
- Professional but not clinical
- Warm without being overly soft
- Structured yet human
- Clear about his medical background
- Trustworthy for clients dealing with trauma, illness, or complex life transitions
The goal was to create a digital space that mirrors the therapeutic space — grounded, safe, and thoughtfully structured.
The Solution
I built a modern, static-first website using Astro and React, focusing on performance, clarity, and emotional tone.
The structure was designed to guide visitors naturally:
- Home – Introducing his journey from medicine to psychotherapy
- About – Qualifications and professional background
- Therapeutic Approach – Integrative methods explained clearly
- Session Fees – Transparent pricing and policies
- Contact – Simple, validated enquiry form with location details
Everything is easy to navigate, distraction-free, and built for adults seeking individual counselling in Wicklow or online across Ireland.
Web Design
The design reflects Alistair’s brand: Grounded. Professional. Compassionate.
Key design decisions:
- Earth-toned palette for warmth and stability
- High-end typography (serif headings + clean sans-serif body text)
- Generous spacing for readability
- Minimal visual noise
- Subtle scroll-triggered animations
- Calm layout rhythm across pages
We deliberately avoided generic “therapy template” styling and instead created something refined and personal.
Web Development
The site was built with performance and accessibility in mind:
- Astro 5 for static site generation
- React for interactive elements
- Tailwind CSS with a structured design system
- Framer Motion for subtle animations
- React Hook Form + Zod for validated contact submissions
- Semantic HTML and ARIA-friendly components
The contact form is fully validated, and the site includes GDPR-compliant Privacy and Terms pages.
SEO & Performance
SEO was implemented from the beginning:
- Local optimisation for Wicklow and Ireland
- Per-page metadata
- Custom sitemap and robots.txt
- Optimised images and clean semantic structure
The result is a fast, accessible, and search-friendly website built to perform long term.
The Result
The final website:
- Feels calm and professional
- Reflects 20+ years of medical experience
- Builds trust immediately
- Clearly communicates therapeutic approach
- Works seamlessly across devices
It gives Dr Alistair McBride a digital presence that matches the depth, care, and professionalism of his practice.
